Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Clinic. Tasks: Conduct program evaluations. Consult with other health care professionals to evaluate treatment plans . Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and the patient's outcomes. Examine the behaviour. Interview clients, prepare case histories and assess problems. Interview patients . Record observations. Review reports from health care professionals to determine patients' current and potential functioning levels. Supervise other counsellors, social service staff and assistants. Use standard psychological tests for assessment. Write progress reports . Prepare a treatment plan for each patient. Provide education to clients regarding health promotion and injury prevention, management and treatment. Provide therapy. Counsel individuals and groups to achieve more effective personal, social and vocational development and adjustment. Implement treatment plans. Perform administrative tasks. Analyze the patient during the treatments. Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them. Maintain accurate records. Plan intervention programs. Initiate, design and implement specialized therapy programs. Recruit and hire staff. Conduct research. Follow up results of counselling programs and clients' adjustment. Administer standard psychological tests for assessment. Interpret test results. Prepare assessment, progress, follow-up and court reports. Help clients manage physical illness and disorders. Identify additional/alternative services and provide referrals. Provide expert witness testimony in court proceedings. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Accreditation or registration with the appropriate national, provincial or territorial professional association. Computer and technology knowledge: Electronic medical records. MS Excel. MS Outlook. MS PowerPoint. MS Windows. MS Word. MS Office. Security and safety: Criminal record check.
