Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Work setting: Sawmill. Tasks: Examine logs and rough lumber to decide best lumber cuts. Saw, trim and plane rough lumber into dressed lumber of various sizes. Saw or split shingles and shakes. Start conveyor system to move logs and lumber to and from saws. Monitor logs and lumber movement to ensure cuts are made according to specifications. Set up and adjust saw equipment. Replace blades or bands. Clean and lubricate sawmill equipment. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Own vehicle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Weight handling: More than 45 kg (100 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Gloves. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Screening questions: Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
