*Position Description: Electrical Engineer*

Since its origin in 1981, JASCO has developed and implemented acoustic technologies for underwater acoustics, ranging from advanced acoustic recording systems design to complex acoustic modelling algorithms. We perform acoustic consulting, field monitoring and data analysis services. Our work encompasses all stages of environmental reviews and assessments of underwater noise. We work with regulatory, oil and gas, marine construction, energy, fisheries, transport, and defence sectors. JASCO has offices in Victoria, BC, Halifax, NS, the United States, Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
JASCO is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer in our Dartmouth, NS (Woodside) location.
The engineering team in develops and supports a variety of underwater autonomous acoustic recorders. JASCO recorders are designed to record sounds of everything from industrial noise to marine mammals.
*Position Overview *
The Electrical Engineer designs low noise, low power electronics for data recorders, sensors, and other supporting devices.
*Responsibilities*
* Design, verify, and validate printed circuit assemblies for underwater acoustic recorders, sensors, and other equipment used by JASCO
* Maintaining version-controlled design documentation
* Facilitating prototype build and testing
* Dealing with vendors, manufacturers, and clientele
* Project effort and cost estimation to support project management and business development activities
* Provide support to test engineering during production test development
* Writing and editing technical reports and documentation
* Other duties as required
*Required Qualifications and Experience*
* Marine or ocean technology background would be an asset.
* Experience with design, verification, and validation of printed circuit assemblies for underwater electrical or electronic equipment.
* Digital and analogue audio circuit design.
* RF circuit design.
* Test fixture design for testing circuit boards.
* Programming in VHDL, FORTRAN, PASCAL, or BASIC.
* Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*Education*
* Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
