Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Outdoors. Dusty. Noisy. Work setting: Various locations. Private company, corporation or industry. Tasks: Adjust their designs to conform to limiting factors such as budget allocation and cost of materials. Consult with clients to determine the type, style and purpose of renovations or new building construction being considered. Generate building plans and detailed drawings to be used by contractors and tradespersons. Prepare documents showing both the structural needs and the materials required for construction. Work in limiting factors, such as town planning laws and environmental impact assessments. Conceptualize and design buildings and develop plans describing design specifications, building materials, costs and construction schedules. Prepare sketches and models. Proposal preparation. Write plans describing project specifications and construction schedules. Interior design (general). Assist skilled tradespersons. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Type of drafting: Presentation drawings. Computer and technology knowledge: Architectural software programs. Adobe Photoshop. MS Office. MS Project. AutoCAD. Autodesk REVIT. Computer-aided design (CAD).
