Outdoor Guide <p>District School Board of Niagara- Outdoor Education Campuses <p>One (1) Temporary / Term position <p>35 Hours per week <p>Starting asap to May 20, 2025 <p>Working at the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) means being part of a supportive, innovative community that works towards doing what?s best for students, and helping every individual achieve success. We proudly serve over 40,000 students across almost 100 elementary and secondary schools in Niagara, located between Lake Erie in the South and Lake Ontario to the North. DSBN students are at the heart of everything we do.<p>The Board is currently seeking an energetic, compassionate, student-focused Outdoor Guide to join our dedicated and motivated team. This position provides support for students in our positive and inclusive outdoor learning environment.<p>Reporting to the Outdoor Education Supervisor, the successful applicant to this temporary position will:<p><p> work with other Outdoor Experiential Education staff to deliver educational programs at the sites;<p> <p> collaborate with other Outdoor Experiential Education staff to develop creative and innovative<p> programming in outdoor experiential education;<p> Assist with the coordination of bussing, planning with schools, invoicing and other work as assigned.<p> have and share knowledge of and interest in the environment and outdoor education activities (i.e., flora<p> and fauna identification skills, knowledge of forest management and the Niagara escarpment, outdoor<p> survival skills and orienteering, GPS, low ropes, an interest in local Niagara history, etc.)<p> participate in further training and certifications as needed to remain current and innovative in outdoor and<p> environmental education; <p> communicate effectively with students and teachers as well as other adults;<p> maintain Outdoor Education facilities and equipment (including making minor upkeep and repairs).<p><p><p>Skills, Qualifications and Education Requirements <p><p> Applicants must hold a CAAT diploma in Outdoor Education, Environmental Education, or equivalent<p> Preference will be given to those with a Bachelor?s degree in Outdoor Education, specialization or<p> related degree. <p> <p> Prior<p> experience working with school-aged individuals in a related setting is preferred <p> Provision of a satisfactory Police Clearance including a Vulnerable Sector Police Check from the last 6 months (or ability to obtain one) is a condition of employment.<p><p>We thank all the candidates for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.<p>The District School Board of Niagara is committed to equity and inclusion in the recruitment and hiring of it's employees, who reflect the diversity of our community and students we serve.
