Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry. Work setting: Private practice. Tasks: Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health. Prescribe and administer medications and treatments. Perform and assist in routine surgery. Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases. Participate in health care policy and planning. Advise patients on health care. Supervise staff. Be the patient advocate. Co-ordinate or manage primary patient care. Provide acute care management. Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues. Supervise home care services. Supervision: Staff in various areas of responsibility. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : College of Family Physicians Certification (CCFP). Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Security and safety: Medical exam. Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone. Screening questions: Are you willing to relocate for this position?.
