We may just have an opportunity for you!<p>The Niagara Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor (casual) with our Continuing Education Department. Our casual ESL Instructors work on a ?call as needed? basis, filling in for ESL staff who are away or on leave. <p>WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: <p><p> Instruct English as a second language, in accordance with curriculum guidelines of the Canadian Language Benchmarks<p> Plan and develop daily lessons using appropriate ESL instructing methodologies,<p> strategies and resources that address all language skills <p> <p> Maintain a record of daily classroom activities<p> Incorporate life skills, employable skills and elements of Canadian culture<p> throughout lesson plans<p> <p> Adapt strategies to accommodate continuous intake, irregular attendance, group and individual learner needs<p> Assess, evaluate and document learner progress in all areas of language skills.<p> Collaborate with other ESL Instructors on delivery of instruction<p> Accurately record learner information and attendance on a timely basis, manually and on-line<p><p> WHAT YOU BRING: <p><p> University Degree in a related field<p> TESL Ontario Certification<p> Some experience teaching ESL or LINC in Canada, or EFL abroad, or such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may deem appropriate and acceptable<p> Knowledge of the principles of adult ESL teaching methodology and strategies<p> Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to develop and deliver ESL lessons in accordance with program guidelines<p> Proficiency in teaching reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and pronunciation to adult learners at various levels<p> Flexibility to adapt to a continuous intake environment<p> Clear speech with clear pronunciation<p> Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-racial environment with respect and sensitivity towards all learners<p> Strong communication skills, which includes computer proficiency<p> A high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment<p> Proficiency in online/virtual teaching platforms suitable for ESL instruction, if required<p><p>HOURS: Various, as needed on a casual/supply basis<p>LOCATION: Must be able to travel to all locations within the Niagara Catholic District jurisdiction <p> (In-person delivery)<p>At Niagara Catholic, we are an equal opportunity employer that values and celebrates diversity with qualified staff who reflect the communities we serve.
