Job details
Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry. Work setting: Urban area. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Willing to relocate. Private practice. Clinic. Tasks: Collect medical information from patients, family members, or other medical professionals. Examine patients' health condition to identify diseases and injuries . Help patients develop healthy habits, break old habits and reshape their approach to wellness. Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures to determine the most appropriate medical treatment . Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health. Prescribe and administer medications and treatments. Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases. Participate in health care policy and planning. Deliver babies and provide pre-natal and post-natal care. Advise patients on health care. Supervise staff. Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases to government authorities. Be the patient advocate. Co-ordinate or manage primary patient care. Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues. Supervision: Staff in various areas of responsibility. 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : College of Family Physicians Certification (CCFP). Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC). College of Family Physicians Certification in Emergency Medicine - CCFP(EM). Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE I and MCCQE II). Type of treatment experience: Pain management. Specialization in family practice: Alternative/complementary therapies. Family counselling. Geriatrics. Internal medicine. Nutritional counselling. Obstetrics. Pediatrics. Palliative care. Psychotherapy. Sexually transmitted diseases. Sports medicine. Occupational hygiene. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Immunization records. Vulnerable sector check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment.
