Position; FULL TIME REGISTERED PSYCHIATRIC NURSE (RPN)
(Applicable to GRADUATING AND GRADUATED NURSES)
Community based Licensed Program funded by VCH (Vancouver Coastal Health)
*JOB SUMMARY*:
Mission Statement: To provide care to clients In a manner that will respect the individual(s) & maintain their dignity.
The program mandate is to provide psychiatric nursing care and outreach support for ten individuals with
complex care mental health and medical needs living independently in program managed
supportive housing in Richmond, BC. (commercial and residential rental units)
Support services are provided by Administration, Psychiatric Nurse, and
Healthcare Workers (seven days a week)
In this position, you will provide direct nursing care to clients and tend to their needs. You will join a supportive team environment with a strong focus on client-centered care. *JOB DESCRIPTION*: Coordinating with the administrator to consult, confirm, and advise that the following duties are being filled: (Note: Duties may be adjusted to meet client or program needs.)
- Developing, maintaining, and updating client care plans
- Providing one on one time with clients, encouraging activities and daily structure to assist in
improving skills
- Teaching clients about their illness and management of daily routines,
- Communicating and working with families,
- Communicating with the RMHT, psychiatrist, GP, to report, monitor, review, and ensure follow up
care for both psychiatric and medical care symptoms and needs. Attending appointments with clients.
- Monitoring, reviewing medication administration, treatments, and records as prescribed; meeting with the
licensed pharmacist for medication reviews
- Provideing supervision and support for Healthcare Workers.
*JOB REQUIREMENTS*:
* Energetic and sociable; adaptable to program changes and client needs
* Able to work as a team member.
* Applicant must have a high quality of verbal and written communication skills.
* Class 5 BC driver?s license ; use of personal vehicle to transport clients
to any necessary appointments and to attend to clients as scheduled
Mileage is covered based on union rate per kilometre.
*PREREQUISITES*:
BC RPN Registration Certificate or graduating student in qualified BC RPN program
Proof of Canadian citizenship or status
COVID immunization, TB test, Hepatitis B and Influenza Vaccination Record.
Facility Criminal Record Checks will be discussed at interview.
