*Part-Time Cashier at Mission Thrift Store - St Thomas* BFM Foundation (Canada) is a national Christian organization with over 50 Mission Thrift Stores across Canada. The net revenue from all Mission Thrift Stores is devoted to Joint Ministry of BFM Foundation (Canada) and Bible League Canada. These funds are used to establish adult literacy programs, provide church planter training, children?s ministry programs, and distribute Bibles in many places around the world. The stores are operated primarily by dedicated volunteers. Mission Thrift Store St Thomas is currently seeking a part time Cashier who understands and supports the vision and purpose of BFM Foundation (Canada). The Cashier must enjoy working with the public, have a friendly, outgoing personality, and strong relational qualities. The Cashier must display a positive attitude when interacting with customers and maintain a clean appearance. They must understand how to handle cash and give proper change. The cashier must understand the need and wants of a thrift store customer and be able to deliver exceptional customer service. This person must be able to provide a clean police record check. *Knowledge* The Cashier must have proficient knowledge in the following areas: * Customer Service, Cashier or Retail Experience * Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly * High level of customer service skills * Familiarity with non-profits/volunteer organizations *Skills* The Cashier must demonstrate the following skills: * Ability to communicate thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively * Perform basic math functions to collect payments and make changes * Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, volunteers and customers * Ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment with grace and good humor * Strong conflict resolution skills with a focus on positive outcomes * Exceptional organizational and time management skills * Ability to solve problems with good judgment and make decisions independently * Computer literate with experience in operating a point of sales system (POS) *Responsibilities* The Cashier must be able to handle the following responsibilities: * Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with inquiries and purchases. * Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process transactions. * Handle cash and manage cash registers accurately, ensuring proper cash handling procedures. * Maintain a clean and organized checkout area while managing time effectively during peak hours. * Upsell products and services to enhance customer satisfaction and drive sales. * Communicate effectively with team members to ensure a smooth workflow. *Personal Attributes* The Cashier must maintain strict confidentiality in performing his/her duties and must demonstrate the following personal attributes: * Is respectful * Is honest and trustworthy * Demonstrates sound work ethics *WORKING CONDITIONS* * Extensive work interfacing with people * The job is performed indoors in a thrift store retail setting * Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and bending * Lifting and carrying goods up to 25 lbs.
