*Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week, 8:00 AM ? 4:30 PM, with possible occasional weekends and a weekly overtime rotation (evenings ? late shift)*
*Minimum Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree; background or interest in science preferred.*
*A diploma in Medical Office Assistant and experience working in a medical clinic is prioritized.*
*Our office uses Electronic Medical Records; strong computer skills are required.*
*Canadian residents eligible to work in Canada only, please.*
We are searching for an energetic, team-oriented, positive medical administrative assistant with excellent communication skills, an eye for detail, a high degree of common sense, integrity, and a compassionate nature to join our team! Background in ophthalmology or optometry is an asset, but not required. A willingness to learn is required!

*Statement of Duties*
Under general supervision, the assistant is responsible for making and scheduling patient appointments and surgeries, operating the office switchboard and greeting registering patients upon arrival.
*Main Duties Include*
· Greeting and registering arriving patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner;
· Verifying and updating patient information and data on the patient?s electronic medical record;
· Booking, coordinating and rescheduling patient appointments and surgeries;
· Overseeing the general waiting area, coordinating patient movements and reporting problems or irregularities;
· Operating the clinic switchboard by responding to incoming calls, routing calls to the appropriate department, taking and relaying messages, communicating general clinic information and responding to emergency calls according to established procedures;
· Maintaining patient confidentiality;
· Opening and distributing mail;
· Performing daily opening and closing office procedures as assigned;
· Collecting payment from patients for non-insured services and products, and providing receipts;
· Balancing accounts receivable at the end of the day;
· Faxing referrals and requests for diagnostic testing as requested by physician;
· Making patient reminder calls.
· Performing other related duties within the clinic as assigned;
