Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Various locations. Engineering firm. Tasks: Supervise and inspect the installation of mechanical systems. Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs. Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems. Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems. Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for industrial construction or maintenance. Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Area of work experience: Installation, maintenance and inspection of equipment or facilities. Purchasing, procurement and contracts. Project planning. Area of specialization: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Sound discrimination.
