WAGALUS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL<p>KINDERGARTEN/GRADE 1 TEACHER<p>TERM JOB POSTING<p> <p> <p> <p>Wagalus Elementary School, Kwakiutl Band is seeking a full-time innovative, creative and dynamic KINDERGARTEN/GRADE 1 TEACHER who wants to make a positive difference for our students. The position is for one year term which may be extended. A maximum of 16 students with support of an Educational Assistant. <p> <p>Wagalus School is a vibrant elementary school; serves preschool to Grade 7 with approximately 40 students located in the Fort Rupert Village on the northern coast of beautiful Vancouver Island. The school provides quality and relevant educational programs and services that weaves Kwak?wala and Kwakiutl culture throughout the curriculum. Staff collaborate to meet the individual needs of our students while preparing them to be successful in the 21st Century. The front of the school features a traditional big house that is the ?heart of the school? which welcomes students, staff and visitors to our learning environment. Kwakiutl Band provides a competitive salary, pension and a health and benefits program. <p> <p>EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS<p>Bachelor Education Degree (elementary)<p>BC Teacher Certification<p>Primary teaching Experience - minimum of 3 years, preferably in a First Nations School<p>In-depth knowledge of the new BC Ed curriculum, and other educational programs<p>Innovative, creative, team player and resourceful<p>Strong organizational and planning skills to accommodate multi-grades and diverse needs<p>Experience working with First Nation children<p>Knowledge of literacy and numeracy programs and best practices<p>Clear Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable populations.<p> <p>HOW TO JOIN OUR INNOVATIVE & DEDICATED TEAM <p>Send a completed application that includes the following:<p>Ø Cover Letter, Resume, Copies of Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates<p>Ø B.C.
