We extend our respect to all First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples for their valuable past and present contributions to this land.<p> <p>As part of a multidisciplinary team, and under the direction of the Social Work Lead, the Addictions Counsellor is responsible for:<p><p><p><p> <p> Providing clinical support relating to intake, assessment, education, treatment, consultation, and referral for clients who are currently experiencing, or are affected by problems related to substance use<p> <p> <p> Providing individual and group counselling/psychoeducation to students in grades 7-12<p> <p> <p> Providing support to families of students affected by problems related to addiction<p> <p> <p> Liaising with the community to facilitate pathways to service<p> <p> <p> Providing professional development to our school staff, students and parents (may require infrequent evening work)<p> <p> <p> Coordinating and consulting with other members of a multidisciplinary team<p> <p> <p> Responding to crisis situations, assessing suicide risk and participating Violence Threat Risk Assessments<p> <p> <p> Addressing chronic absenteeism<p> <p> <p> Engaging in data collection, research and report writing<p> <p><p><p><p>Qualifications: <p><p> <p> A Master?s degree in Social Work<p> <p> <p> Membership in the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers <p> <p> <p> Minimum of 3 years of experience in providing clinical services to youth<p> <p> <p> Significant understanding of substance use and technology overuse issues, mental health, concurrent disorders, problematic gambling<p> <p> <p> Knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches in the fields of mental health and addiction <p> <p> <p> Superior knowledge base in community-based addictions services<p> <p> <p> Knowledge of community resources in other sectors (i.e. youth justice, child welfare, health care, mental health, etc)<p> <p> <p> Technology skills in preparing educational resources and in working collaboratively within Google Suite<p> <p><p><p><p>The following would be considered an asset:<p><p> <p> Certification in Addictions <p> <p> <p> Training in suicide risk assessment/VTRA<p> <p> <p> Experience in group facilitation<p> <p><p>This is a full-time temporary position with an annual salary range of $93,671 - 110,063 to be prorated to the duration of the assignment.
