*Job Summary*
Public Works Labourer 2 employees perform advanced tasks to maintain and improve municipal infrastructure. This role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and involves significant physical labor and technical skill. Responsibilities include complex maintenance and repair tasks for roadways (streets, lanes, sidewalks), water distribution and sewage collection systems, storm water systems, traffic signs and streetlights, and the cemetery. The position ensures that these systems are well-maintained and operate safely and effectively.
*Duties*
Winter:
* Clearing and shoveling snow from streets, sidewalks and other municipal property, especially works requiring the use of a loader
* Spreading salt and sand for ice control
Spring/Summer/Fall:
* Maintaining the municipal compost site
* Road and street maintenance
* Maintaining the City?s drainage system
* Digging ditches, cemetery plots, and other digs
* Loading and unloading trucks with supplies, equipment and other materials
General Duties:
* Seasonal cleanup
* Cleaning and maintaining sidewalks and roads
* Assisting in the maintenance of equipment, water & sewer works and fire hydrants
* Operating assorted equipment such as street sweepers, woodchippers, skid steers, mobile elevating work platforms, backhoes and loaders
* Carrying out daily safety procedures and documentation
* Reporting daily activities and maintaining accurate records
* Other duties as assigned
*Requirements*
_*Education & Certifications*_
* Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan driver?s license
* Satisfactory results from a criminal record check and drivers abstract
* Powered mobile equipment (PME) certification, or equivalent
* The following certifications will be considered an asset and are required within the first 3 months of employment:
* _Confined space (entry and monitor)_
* _Ground disturbance level 2_
* _Fall protection_
* _WHIMIS_
* _First Aid_
_*Experience*_
* A minimum of 1-year previous experience in a similar capacity
* Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Must be able and willing to operate a backhoe or a loader
_*Knowledge of equipment maintenance*_
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
* Must be able and willing to perform all duties of the job in various weather conditions for extended periods
* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships
* Good communication and comprehension ability - written and oral
*Advanced Qualifications:*_*(*__Possession of these qualifications will be considered an asset)_

* Valid Class 3A Saskatchewan driver?s license
* Mobile elevating work platform certification, or equivalent
* Crane and rigging certification, or equivalent
_*Knowledge, Skills & Abilities*_
* Working knowledge of the Workplace Safety & Health Regulations
* Keen attention to detail
* Confidence interacting with the general public
* Mechanically inclined
* Willingness to learn
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $21.89 per hour
