The Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for performing construction assurance and compliance activities and supporting project teams to develop Safe Work Procedures.

*Responsibilities:*
* Perform construction assurance and compliance activities on the assigned Projects,
* Support Project teams to develop Safe Work Procedures and to implement effectively for the safe execution of the works,
* Perform formal inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the relevant OHS legislation, standards, and contract requirements,
* Provide day to day oversight for on-site construction work conducted by contractors to assess contractor compliance against the relevant OHSA legislation and contract requirements, support with the identification of hazards and implementation of risk mitigation controls,
* Review site activities and provide support for the protection of workers as well as public, infrastructure, and operations,
* Engage, coordinate and work with Integrated Project Team and internal/external stakeholders to provide consistent and continuous support,
* In collaboration with the Integrated Project team, review, analyze and outline construction activities and work areas to ensure safe and efficient delivery,
* Participate and/or support others with incident investigations, including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions,
* Assist the Safety Director and Safety team with other tasks as required.
*Qualifications:*
* 5 to 7 years? experience in heavy civil and earthwork
* Strong working knowledge of Ontario OHSA Act and Regulations with an enhanced level of knowledge and experience in construction requirements.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Experience in managing multitasks and multiple priorities within time frames.
* Ability to establish collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* NCSO or other designation is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38.00-$40.00 per hour
