Demands, duties, qualifications Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the primary purpose of this position is to provide advanced specialized clinical psychologist services to children, youth and families. The position responds to both outpatient and inpatient referrals. Qualifications : Completion of a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, with a preferred three years' experience in clinical mental health and/or addictions practice;Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board;Experience or capacity to administer and interpret various psychometric tests;Prior experience in working with culturally diverse populations, children, youth and their families;Willingness to travel to other communities within the catchment area on an as-needed basis;The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct. Duties (Included but not limited to) : Provides comprehensive assessments and intensive treatment and intervention in the context of an interdisciplinary team;Perform diagnostic assessments (including psychometric testing), and plan therapeutic interventions based on client need;Consult with related parties to gather clinical information relevant for therapeutic intervention;Evaluate client psychological and functional abilities and assist client and families in setting goals;Facilitate individualized treatment planning;Modify programs and employ new approaches and techniques as clients progress;Develop and implement a psychology program across multiple communities within the context of a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary team.Assists with assessment/diagnosis of FASD as an integral part of the Interdisciplinary FASD Diagnostic Team;Assists with individuals and families on newly formed FACT team, as requiredProvide clinical consultation and administrative advice, direction and assistance to other professionals, support staff, and community agencies.Develop home and school programs to achieve therapeutic goals;Completes accurate and timely clinical documentation through the Client Referral Management System;Provide therapeutic and supportive response during or following crisis situations;Develop and deliver programs/materials on topics relating to mental health and addictions;Participate in activities, team meetings/conferences and committees of relevance;Travel to other areas of the region is required;Ensure that psychology practice closely follows professional standards and Code of Ethics;Perform other related duties as required.
