Ten minutes from downtown Victoria, View Royal?s central location also provides good highway access to the Western Communities and to the Saanich Peninsula, including BC Ferries and the Victoria International Airport.Engineering Technologist - Development & Public Works1 Regular Full-Time Position$45.74 - $49.32 We are seeking a highly organized, customer focused Engineering Technologist who demonstrates great attention to detail with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively to join our dynamic, fun, friendly, and dedicated team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position provides a unique combination of both land development servicing reviews and approvals, as well as public works project management. The position offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to be provided with a diverse set of municipal engineering experience. The Engineering Technologist position performs a variety of duties such as: Reviewing designs, inspecting construction works and coordinating with engineers, surveyors, developers and property owners for civil engineering works related to land development servicing including subdivisions, frontage development and assigned capital projects; Assisting the Director of Engineering in reviewing detailed calculations, servicing and arborist reports related to subdivision and land development; Conducting site visits for design review purposes and inspections to ensure compliance with street, stormwater, tree protection and development servicing bylaws during development of offsite works; Reviewing reports and test results for soil, traffic, street lighting, capacity of sanitary sewers, storm drains, arborist tree plans, water systems and other engineering-related matters, and provides recommendations to the Director of Engineering; Reviewing and approving boulevard improvement permits, tree permits, driveway crossing permits, oversize vehicle permits, street construction permits, street occupancy permits, and street use permits in conjunction with the Development Services Department and Building Division; Providing engineering technical support and information on development and capital project related issues; Coordinating with government agencies, developers, contractors, consultants regarding existing/future works; Conducting site visits, investigating deficiencies and creating work orders to support the public works maintenance of the Town?s infrastructure (including but not limited to roadways, sidewalks, road drainage, traffic signals and signs, street lights). The successful candidate will have a two-year diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent related experience; minimum three years in the civil/municipal engineering field specifically related to the design, operation, maintenance, and construction of municipal infrastructure; and a valid B.C.
