We are looking for an experienced *Electrical Engineer* with experience in FPGA development, circuit design, and signal processing to support our cutting-edge sonar systems. Ping DSP develops world-leading sonar systems from concept to production for underwater 3D imaging and mapping in a broad range of applications, including; hydrographic surveying, marine habitat mapping, search and recovery, underwater archaeology, and exploring the world?s oceans, lakes, and rivers. Our products are deployed on virtually every type on surface vessel and underwater vehicle and are trusted by industry professionals around the world.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in advancing the state-of-the-art and designing, developing, and optimizing next generation 3D sonar technology and products.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* *FPGA and Firmware Development*: Lead the design and development of embedded FPGA and MCU formware solutions, focusing on design, implementation and optimization of signal processing and data acquisition for high resolution 3D sonar systems.
* *PCB Design*: Design, prototype, and validate *high-performance PCBs* using Altium Designer, ensuring they meet system requirements and high-frequency design principles.
* *Circuit Simulation*: Perform *complex circuit simulations* using *Spice-based programs* to model system behavior and optimize circuit designs.
* *Digital Signal Processing*: Contribute to the development and integration of *DSP algorithms* within the FPGA and hardware environment to enhance sonar system capabilities.
* *System Integration*: Collaborate with firmware, software, and hardware teams to integrate FPGA and PCB components into the broader sonar system architecture.
* *Testing & Validation*: Develop and execute test plans for system verification and validation, including debugging, troubleshooting, and refining designs as needed.
* *Documentation*: Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, simulation results, and testing procedures.
*Qualifications:*
* *4-5 years* of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on FPGA, embedded system development and PCB design.
* Extensive experience in *PCB design* (Altium Designer preferred), including multi-layer boards and high-speed circuits.
* Proficiency in *circuit simulation* using *Spice-based programs*.
* Strong understanding of *digital signal processing (DSP)* concepts and their application in hardware systems.
* Experience in sonar, radar, or other signal processing-intensive systems is a plus.
* Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and within a team.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
