Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Hog management. Dusty. Odours. Work setting: Rural area. Staff accommodation provided. Tasks: Diagnose livestock health issues. Handling animals. Monitoring animal health. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Treat livestock health issues. Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures. Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs. Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Maintain livestock performance records. Maintain quality control and production records. Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs. Perform general farm duties. Track and report on current feed inventory . Weaning. Supervision: 3-4 people. Equipment and machinery experience: Feeding and watering system. Area of specialization: Swine. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Basic security clearance. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Personal suitability: Excellent oral communication. Organized. Team player.
