Currently, we have over 10,000 students and offer more than 130 credit courses from Grades 9 through 12, making OVS one of the largest schools in Canada by enrollment. https:/www.ontariovirtualschool.ca *What Do We Want?* We seek a qualified full stack developer to join our growing online school. The right candidates should be passionate people that are ambitious, creative, and driven to work on challenging problems and provide innovative solutions. As the Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for the front-end and back-end design and development. You will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining cross-platform software solutions using agile methodology. Ultimately, you will be partnering with other engineers and developers to refine and build the best-in-class products and experience!. You will help shape the future of OVS, solve challenging problems, and assist your teammates in getting stuff done. The ideal candidate will jump in and begin contributing to one of our projects as a developer. *Responsibilities:* Able to understand, diagnose and then solve deep technical and performance issues across the platform. Design, develop, document, test and maintain cross-platform software solutions using agile methodology. Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability. Communicate clearly regarding architectural issues and design solutions. Keep our users happy by maintaining the software, troubleshooting and fixing bugs. Collaborative programming, 2-3hrs of the working shift will be spent working on programming tasks with team members via zoom. But also, able to work on projects independently. Work in our Toronto office (Yonge and Sheppard). Flexible Work Schedule, 35hr work week, hours can be selected from Monday-Friday 8am to 8pm. *Technical Skills:* - 3 or more years of experience in web application development - Expert level experience with Next.js, Vercel, and Tailwind CSS - Familiarity with TypeScript recommended - Experience with real-time multimedia technology (WebRTC, RTSP, etc.) highly recommended - Proficiency and/or familiarity with PHP, Python, Node.js, Go or Rust for backend services and tools/scripts - Strong knowledge of MySQL; familiarity with other relational databases is a plus - Experience with REST APIs and integrating third-party services *Development Practices:* - Proficiency with Git version control - Experience in reviewing code of other developers *Communication and Problem-Solving:* - Excellent communication skills - Ability to approach problems through a customer experience lens - Proactive in owning problems and driving solutions *Professional and Personal Attributes:* - Criminal record check - Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure - Double vaccinated *Education*: - University degree or college diploma in computer science, software engineering, or related field *Why work with us?* * Great people.
