We are looking for a passionate and experienced Kitchen Manager to join our team and ensure our kitchen operations run smoothly and efficiently.
*Job Description:*
The Kitchen Manager will oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene. This role involves managing kitchen staff, maintaining inventory, and ensuring efficient workflow. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to sustainable and plant-based cuisine.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*Leadership During Hours of Service:*
* *Service Standards:* Ensure that our standards of service are met daily by monitoring kitchen operations and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
* *Efficiency and Accuracy:* Oversee the kitchen to ensure fast ticket times without sacrificing accuracy. Monitor the pace of service to keep operations running smoothly.
* *Quality Control:* Maintain a consistent high quality of food by conducting regular checks and ensuring that all dishes meet the restaurant's standards.
* *Health and Safety:* Ensure the health and safety of customers and employees are the top priority every day. Implement daily training sessions to reinforce health and safety standards and ensure compliance with B.C. food safety regulations.
*Business Operations:*
* *Operational Tools:* Use programs like CTUIT, Revel, and PayWorks for managing inventory, scheduling, and payroll. Maintain accuracy in all operational tools and ensure proper usage by the team.
* *Scheduling:* Write and distribute staff schedules consistently, balancing labor costs with the needs of the business while complying with B.C. employment standards.
* *Budget Management:* Plan and execute the budget to meet key business KPIs, including labor costs, cost of goods sold (COGs), and controllable expenses.
* *Problem-Solving:* Proactively troubleshoot inconsistencies in operations and identify opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency and profitability.
* *Administrative Operations:*
* *Administrative Duties:* Ensure all financial, personnel, and payroll-related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
* *Inventory Management:* Maintain weekly inventory counts using CTUIT, manage recipes, and analyze variance reports to ensure accuracy and control costs.
* *Vendor Relations:* Create and maintain order guides and build strong relationships with vendors to secure quality ingredients and supplies at competitive prices.
*People + Guest Experience:*
* *HR Support:* Assist the General Manager with HR duties, including hiring, training, ongoing coaching, conflict resolution, and conducting employee performance reviews in accordance with workplace policies.
* *Staff Training and Development:* Provide ongoing training to keep staff up to date on all restaurant operations and ensure standards of customer service are maintained. Conduct regular performance reviews focused on staff development and growth.
* *Communication:* Host pre- and post-shift meetings with team members and leaders to ensure clear communication and alignment on daily goals. Lead full staff, leadership, and management meetings as needed.
* *Guest Relations:* Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring quality customer service. Set the standard for customer service by leading by example and fostering a culture of excellence.
*People Development:*
* *Training Programs:* Implement ongoing training programs to ensure all team members are knowledgeable about vegan cooking techniques, health and safety protocols, and customer service standards.
