Planner II(Development Services)Naturally, Campbell River - Located on Vancouver Island, the City of Campbell River offers a rare combination of a welcoming small-town feel with large-city amenities. We are a 45-minute drive from the winter and summer activities of Mount Washington, and just minutes from more than 100 km of all levels of mountain biking and hiking trails, plus easy access to the ocean, rivers and lakes for sports fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and whale watching.The role:As part of the Development Services team, you will be working in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment. Reporting to the Development Planning Manager, you will perform a wide range of professional planning duties including the analysis and processing of a broad range of development applications of varying complexity, the preparation of various types of development planning reports and studies, public presentations, and the provision of technical advice to customers inside and outside the organization.Our ideal candidate will have: Undergraduate degree in Community Planning or Urban Geography, with a focus on land use planning or Urban Design, or in a discipline related to Planning. Member in good standing with the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC) and actively pursuing full membership as a certified Registered Professional Planner. Four (4) years of progressive land use or development planning experience within the last seven (7) years, preferably in a municipal setting. Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver?s Licence and provide and maintain a clean drivers abstract as per City policy. Effective January 1, 2025, the rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit position will be $48.17 per hour based on a 35-hour work week and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
