*Job Overview* The Therapeutic Recreationist is part of the management team of the nursing home. The incumbent is expected to manage the department with particular emphasis on the development of objectives and plans that enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the department within the nursing home goals and objectives. They are also responsible for the provision of a diversified and flexible recreation/activation program for residents, pastoral care, communicty and volunteer serices. The Therapeutic Recreationist is accountable to the Administrator. The incumbent also oversees the work of one employee as assigned. *Qualifications* * Bachelor or Masters Degree in Recreation/Recreation Therapy or related field * Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRSD) - preferred. * Registration with the Provincial Association Therapeutic Recreation (CRTA) - preferred * Clinical work experience * Excellent InterpersonAL SKILLS * Exceptional Attendance Record * Criminal Record check/Vulnerable Sector check and medical required * Strong computer operation skills, . * Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff families and other stakeholders * Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
