Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. Work setting: Various locations. Remote location. Tasks: Interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to plan methods or sequences of operation . Operate heavy equipment. Read blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Use International Organization for Standardization (ISO) pattern joystick controls. Use Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) controls pattern. Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks. Understand the purpose, proper usgage and information found on material safety data sheets (MSDS). Complete onboard and other logs. Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment. Secure special attachments to equipment. Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment. Perform minor repairs to equipment. Train or assist in the training of other workers. Perform scheduled maintenance service on equipment. Train other workers. Service equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. CPR Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate. Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate. Ground Disturbance - Level II program. Type of heavy equipment operated: Backhoe excavator, loader. Caterpillar (CAT) controls. John Deere controls. Bulldozer, large or small. Grader. Compactor. Roller. Scraper. Bobcats.
