The employee will report to the Phytotron facility manager and work with a team to support a number of research initiatives centering around the successful greenhouse production of horticultural crops (e.g. small and tree fruits, vegetables) relating to research programs. Under the direction of the Greenhouse/Grounds Operation Manager, the Greenhouse/Grounds Operations Support person will provide for the primary care and nurture of research plant material for the research staff in the phytotron complex by:• Conducting daily irrigation and scheduled fertilization requirements,• Monitoring environmental functions and settings in the complex and adjusting as needed using the environmental control computer system,• Providing/receiving direct communications with members of the research staff and other work units,• Monitoring and assessing of insect and disease problems, applying beneficial biologicals when applicable,• Calculating fertilizer/pesticide rates and applying applicatio- LocationKentville, NS
