Education: Bachelor's degree. Civil engineering, other. Surveying engineering. Work site environment: Outdoors. Work setting: Urban area. Rural area. Various locations. Private sector land surveying establishments. Tasks: Develop survey plans, methods and procedures for conducting legal surveys. Prepare all data and documents related to surveys of real property boundaries. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Supervise other land surveyors and/or field crews. Supervise the preparation and compilation of all data and documents related to surveys of real property boundaries. Plan, direct and supervise or conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries of properties. Record all measurements and other information obtained during survey activities. Analyze, manage and display data using geographic information systems and computer-aided design and drafting. Determine precise locations using electronic distance measuring equipment. Survey and lay out subdivisions for rural and urban development. Type of service and repair: Geographic Information System (GIS). Computer and technology knowledge: ArcGIS. AutoCAD. Computer-aided design (CAD). 3D graphic software. Field skills experience: Operate survey equipment. Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Survey specialization: Land development. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Attention to detail. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Excellent written communication. Organized. Team player.
