Overview: Wildwood Academy is a charitable, not-for-profit, private, elementary school specifically designed to meet the needs of students with exceptionalities such as attention difficulties, learning differences, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Through research-based teaching instruction and positive reinforcement, we close gaps in student knowledge and build students' confidence in their ability to learn. Wildwood Academy offers all academic subjects from Grade Levels 2-8, as well as Emotional Intelligence classes, clubs, field trips, and extracurricular activities. Located in Oakville, Ontario, Wildwood has approximately 60 students. We are currently seeking a Primary/Junior/Intermediate teacher to be a part of our team in February of 2025. For this school year, this teacher would take over a homeroom of Grade 4 students (with a co-teacher) and subjects including Grade 8 math and Grade 7 reading and writing and Grade 7 Science. Duties: - Educate students in various subjects such as Math, Reading, Writing, Spelling, Social Studies, Science, Phys. Ed, Arts, Emotional Intelligence, etc. - Receive coaching for Direct Instruction and utilize these programs for assigned classes. For more information on what Direct Instruction is visit - Create engaging lesson plans and classroom activities - Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues - Provide a safe and inclusive learning environment - Utilize educational technology in the classroom - Assess student progress and provide feedback Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Education or related field - Teaching certification/license - Experience working with elementary school students - Knowledge of early childhood education principles - Proficiency in Google Drive/Classroom - Experience in Special Education Joining our team at Wildwood Academy offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on students with a variety of learning needs.
