PROGRAM COORDINATOR - SENIORS? SERVICESGeneral Programs (Replacement Temporary, Full-Time)Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation and arts amenities. The West Vancouver Parks, Culture & Community Services Department has an opening for a temporary, full-time Program Coordinator - Seniors? Services. Reporting to the Recreation Services Supervisor, this position oversees a wide range of 55+ recreation programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Planning, developing, promoting, and supervising a variety of 55+ recreation programs at the West Vancouver Seniors? Activity Centre - including Transportation, Trips, Outdoor Recreation, Indoor Sport, Woodwork, Visual & Fabric Arts and a variety of general programs; Assessing individual and community program needs and interests; working with community feedback; monitoring trends Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and reviewing the work of a large team of subordinates, including non-union casual staff, program instructors and volunteers that are engaged in providing a wide range of 55+ recreation programs; Exploring, developing, and coordinating community partnerships, including 55+ program service providers and other community groups; Working collaboratively as part of a dynamic team in preparing promotional material and promoting interest and participation in related program areas; preparing budgets, monitoring revenues and expenditures, analyzing statistics, and submitting monthly reports Performing other duties as required. The preferred candidate will possess: a passion for working with seniors, strong leadership, collaboration, budgetary, organizational, communication and customer service skills; previous experience and proven success in creating and implementing both special events and seniors programs; In addition, an extensive knowledge of the philosophy, principles, practices and objectives of 55+ community recreation programs related to active aging, frail and isolated seniors.The successful candidate has completed a University Degree in recreation, sports or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of training and experience, a Class 4 Driver?s Licence and a minimum 2 years? experience working with elderly populations. Required certification includes Standard First Aid; and a valid BC Driver?s License and access to a vehicle. Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, software is required. Working knowledge of JDE and Activenet software are ideal.
