*Job Overview:* As a *Full-Time Automotive Mechanic Apprentice* or *310S Licensed Mechanic*, you will work closely with experienced technicians to perform various repair and maintenance tasks. You will assist in diagnosing and repairing vehicle issues across all systems, including brakes, suspension, engines, transmissions, and more. This role offers both an apprenticeship for those looking to learn and grow and a position for those already possessing a *310S license* (in Ontario or equivalent certification in other regions).
The apprenticeship is designed to help individuals gain valuable hands-on experience in the automotive industry, while the *310S Licensed Mechanic* will take on a leadership role and may mentor apprentices, ensuring that all repair tasks are completed to the highest standards.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* *General Automotive Repair:* Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in cars, trucks, and SUVs.
* *Brakes:* Perform brake inspections, maintenance, and repairs including replacing brake pads, rotors, calipers, and fluid changes.
* *Suspension:* Diagnose and repair suspension components such as shocks, struts, springs, and bushings.
* *Alignment:* Perform wheel alignments and assist with adjustments to vehicle angles for optimal tire wear and handling.
* *Oil Changes:* Carry out oil changes, replace filters, and ensure proper service to maintain engine performance.
* *Tire Swaps:* Mount, balance, and rotate tires, ensuring proper installation and safety standards.
* *Engine Repair and Replacement:* Assist in diagnosing engine problems, performing repairs, and replacing engines when necessary.
* *Transmission Repair and Replacement:* Diagnose transmission issues and assist in repairs or replacements of transmission systems.
* *General Maintenance and Repairs:* Perform other repair tasks, such as exhaust system repairs, fluid flushes, battery replacements, and more.
* *Apprenticeship Responsibilities (for Apprentices):* Learn hands-on techniques for various automotive repairs, under the guidance of experienced technicians. Assist in vehicle diagnostics, repair tasks, and customer service.
* *Mentoring Responsibilities (for 310S Licensed Mechanics):* Mentor and guide apprentices in the repair shop, sharing knowledge and best practices to ensure their growth and development.
* Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
* Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates on vehicle status and explaining necessary repairs.
* Maintain detailed records of services performed, parts used, and time spent on each vehicle.
* Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.
*Qualifications:*
* *For Apprentice:*
* High school diploma or equivalent (required).
* A strong interest in automotive repair, with a focus on cars, trucks, and SUVs.
* Previous hands-on experience with automotive repairs is an asset but not required.
* Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
* Willingness to learn from experienced technicians and follow instructions.
* Ability to lift heavy parts and tools and perform physically demanding tasks.
* Good communication skills and a customer-friendly attitude.
* Valid driver?s license and reliable transportation (preferred).
* *For 310S Licensed Mechanic:*
* Valid *310S license* (Ontario) or equivalent certification in your region.
* Proven experience in automotive repair and diagnostics.
* Strong knowledge of car, truck, and SUV systems and components.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Valid driver?s license and reliable transportation.
