Job Summary
Assists the retail team in the safe operation of a retail outlet, training centre and donation processing centre.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Responsible for pulling clothes from bins to examine and determine appropriateness for sales floor in accordance with established standards
* Examine shoes, electrical and mechanical merchandise and other non-clothing items to determine appropriateness for sales floor in accordance with established standards
* Places saleable clothing on hangers to meet established quotas. Hangs clothing on racks for transporting to the sales floor, keeping similar types of clothing grouped together
* Counts pieces of clothing hung and completes and signs off on a daily report reflecting totals
* Processes customer transactions at the cash register as required and practices proper money handling procedures and ensures money is secure at all times. Upholds Customer Service Policy.
* Greets donors to receive merchandise, providing donor with a tax receipt number if requested. Places donated items in appropriate containers
* Reports known or suspected safety, security or theft problems to the Store Manager/Assistant Manager or other member of senior management team
* Performs other job related duties as assigned by the store Manager, Assistant Manager or Lead Associate
* Actively support and promote the mission, vision and values of Goodwill Industries Niagara
* Conform to all Health and Safety regulations and procedures as laid out in the Employee Handbook including wearing PPE
Qualifications and Skills
* O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education preferred
* Previous experience in a retail environment an asset
* Strong customer service and problem solving skills
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with excellent command of the English language both written and verbal.
* Strong data entry, key boarding skills and mathematical skills required
* Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
* Experience working with individuals with disabilities, mental health issues or other employment barriers
* Valid Driver?s License and transportation an asset
* Valid CPR/First Aid certificate an asset
