*Job Summary:*
Under the direction of the Senior Administrator, the Communications Manager develops the ?Nmis Strategic Communication Plan and supports ?Nmis staff and Council in its implementation as required. A critical element of the Communication Strategy is to promote a clear understanding among the membership and other stakeholders of ?Nmis First Nation goals and objectives and programs and services by establishing effective relationships, including outreach and collaboration as necessary. The Communications Manager is also responsible for developing internal and external communication policies and procedures to ensure that the membership, staff, Council and other stakeholders are informed and engaged with as necessary.
*Key Responsibilities:*
· Developing and implementing the ?Nmis Communication Strategy Plan, that aligns with the ?Nmis Strategic Plan requirements, for informing and engaging the membership, staff, Council and other stakeholders, including government ? federal, provincial and First Nation
· Developing and implementing an annual workplan that aligns with the Strategic Communications Plan
· Organizing and facilitating or assisting with various outreach activities to obtain the input of the membership for reporting on or enhancing ?Nmis programs and services
· Advising and supporting the Senior Administrator and Chief and Council and related committees on communications matters as required
· Managing the ?Nmis website ensuring that content is timely, relevant and informative
· Writing, vetting or editing communication related material as required
· Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with ?Nmis staff, Council and other stakeholders
· Planning, organizing and/or implementing ?Nmis communications initiatives as required
· Researching, gathering, analyzing and reporting on issues that have implications for ?Nmis
· Crafting or assisting with the preparation of reports, briefing notes, communiques, speaking notes, press releases and audio-visual presentations
· Overseeing and assisting with the preparation of the ?Nmis Annual Report and other organizational documents including the Strategic Plan, Comprehensive Community Plan, etc.
· Developing and organizing related workshops, meetings, ceremonies and other events for publicity and information purposes
· Preparing and delivering informational and publicity related activities to enhance awareness about ?Namgis First Nation
· Developing and managing the annual communications budget
· Coordinating and preparing for media interviews and news conferences as required
· Developing templates and assisting ?Nmis departments in the preparation of information material, reports, newsletters, etc.
· Developing and maintaining an accessible communications information records management system
· Other related duties as may be required from time to time
· Other job requirements:
o Attending and participating in membership, public and related events
o Overtime, evening and weekend work from time to time
o Travel to and from related events, including training from time to time
o Personal vehicle and valid drivers? licence for business use
o Satisfactory criminal record check results
*Qualifications:*
· Minimum 3 years? related work experience in Communications, Public Relations, Media Relations or Marketing
· University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media Relations or Marketing, or an equivalent level of education, training and work experience
· Advanced communication skills ? written and verbal
· Advanced computer skills: MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel), Zoom, Teams, graphic design, etc.
· Advanced working knowledge of social media platform usage, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.
