Job details
Thomcat Leasing is seeking a skilled and experienced Truck and Trailer Mechanic to join our team in Victoria, BC. As a Truck and Trailer Mechanic, you will work alongside our mechanic and also independently to perform repairs and custom renovations on various types of trailers, including cargo, flat deck, dump, and utility trailers. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a passion for mechanical work and a desire to contribute to the success of our growing business.
Responsibilities:
Perform brake, bearing, and suspension replacements on trailers, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards.
Repair and replace broken frames, doors, and fenders to restore the structural integrity of trailers.
Install windows, cabinets, shelving, and tie-downs as per customer specifications and requirements.
Repair lights, plugs, and electrical systems, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with regulations.
Install and integrate ancillary light systems to enhance trailer visibility and safety.
Execute custom renovations on trailers, such as converting them into freezer trailers, solar-powered trailers, or concession trailers.
Collaborate with the mechanic and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, modifications, and parts used for each trailer.
Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to minimize workplace accidents and injuries.
Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians and apprentices.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Truck and Trailer Mechanic or a similar role is preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of trailer systems, components, and repair techniques.
Proficient in performing brake, bearing, and suspension replacements on various types of trailers.
Ability to repair frames, doors, and fenders to restore the structural integrity of trailers.
Familiarity with installing windows, cabinets, shelving, and tie-downs according to customer specifications.
Knowledge of electrical systems and experience repairing lights, plugs, and auxiliary light systems.
Experience in executing custom renovations on trailers, such as freezer trailers, solar-powered trailers, or concession trailers, is an asset.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Effective time management skills and the ability to meet project deadlines.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and industry advancements.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
