Job details
_Stillpoint House of Prayer, a ministry of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, is nestled along the banks of the Madawaska River near Burnstown, Ontario. We are committed to enabling persons of all faiths to grow in relationship with self, God, the ?dear neighbour? and the universe, offering a quiet space to ?Come aside and rest awhile.? The contemplative atmosphere, availability of spiritual direction and the support of a praying community nurture life, growth, healing, prayer and the fostering of wholistic well-being._
*We are actively seeking a casual cook/housekeeper who would thrive in this atmosphere, creating nutritious and delicious meals for our retreatants. The position would be casual with some regularly scheduled shifts. *
Reporting to the Administrator, the Cook/Housekeeper is responsible for following the menu provided and creating nutritious and delicious meals meeting the variety of dietary needs and requests from our retreatants.
The Cook will often be the only person working in the kitchen and is responsible for all aspects of meal preparation and clean up. Delicious and nutritious meals displayed in a creative way assist our retreatants in their physical and spiritual renewal.
It is the responsibility of the Cook/Housekeeper to follow all infection control and sanitation procedures while keeping an orderly environment in the kitchen and dining room. This includes ensuring that all food and other items are stored properly, acquiring good quality ingredients, and experience with a variety of cooking methods and procedures.
The duties also include cleaning of rooms, common areas, kitchen and dining space. Some outdoor duties may be required from time to time.
The Cook/Housekeeper, with proven related experience, will maintain a positive and professional approach while respecting the silence of the House.
The usual shifts will be from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m and given our remote location you will need your own transportation. It is the expectation that you would be available every other weekend should there be retreats.
We offer a competitive compensation package and a supportive employment environment. A Food Handler's Certificate is appreciated.
*Please apply by Wednesday, January 8th, 2025. *
_We value an inclusive and diverse workplace and are committed to providing accessible employment practices in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act ("AODA"). If you require accommodation during any stage of the recruitment process, please notify Human resources at the time of interview selection._
