Your responsibilities in this role include providing exceptional customer service, planning and leading activities, and creating a fun and safe environment for children. As a Program Leader, you will plan and lead summer camps, wading pool activities, and provide one to one support in a fun, child friendly and inclusive environment. Additionally, you will provide guidance to volunteers and staff, and perform related work as required.Successful candidates will receive leadership training, mentorship and the opportunity to work with an energetic and creative team of leaders and supervisors. Our programs take place in various parks and facilities throughout Burnaby where we are known in the community for excellence, inclusion, fun and safety.Qualifications include completion of Grade 11 and some related experience preferably in municipal recreational work, some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for those with a commitment to recreation and who are passionate and enthusiastic with strong leadership skills. Experience in coaching, camp counseling, leading Scouts or Guides, tutoring, or volunteering in recreation or a childcare leadership environment is considered an asset. Education and training including Recreation Leadership or Therapeutic Recreation Diplomas, Teacher Certification (PDP), Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, High Five® and experience working with children and youth with extra needs are desired, and successful completion of Emergency First Aid Certification and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification - Level C are required.Pay Rate: $25.22 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.Location: Various Burnaby locations.Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position; hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work.
