<p><p>Position: ASL Instructor for International & Indigenous Languages Program (IILP) <p><p><p>The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking qualified ASL (American Sign Language) instructors to fill Continuing Education International & Indigenous Languages teaching and/or supply teaching position. Classes take place on Saturdays (1:00-3:30 pm) and during the week for the After School Program (Mondays & Tuesdays 4:00-5:15 pm). Classes on Saturday afternoon and during the After School Program are offered virtually throughout the year. <p><p><p>We are also looking for ASL instructors to teach during the summer program, July 4-28 Monday to Friday either in-person (Summerside PS) or virtually.. The summer program is offered in the morning (9:30-12:00) and in the afternoon (1:00-3:30). <p><p><p>The rate of pay for an IILP instructor is $29.26 + 4% vac pay per hour. <p>Responsibilities:<p><p> <p> Plan, coordinate and implement a program that is optimal for the ASL learning and that reflects current teaching practices in Ontario;<p> <p> <p> Ensure the safety and well-being of students;<p> <p> <p> Familiarity with digital tools (e.g., Google Meet, Google Classroom, Google Site, etc.) to be able to teach virtually;<p> <p> <p> Incorporate equitable and inclusive learning practices;<p> <p> <p> Assess and evaluate students? progress;<p> <p> <p> Communicate students? progress to parents/guardians and students;<p> <p> <p> Supervision of students in any learning setting (physical or virtual);<p> <p> <p> Attend professional development learning opportunities. <p> <p><p><p><p>Education, experience and qualifications:<p>Applications will be considered on the basis of the following:<p><p> <p> Fluency in ASL;<p> <p> <p> Teaching experience, with preference to ASL teaching experience;<p> <p> <p> Related degree or diploma, with preference to Ontario College of Teachers? certification or equivalent.<p> <p><p> <p>Preference will be given to candidates who are deaf or hard of hearing.<p> <p>Candidate selection will be based on the results of interview, teaching experience, qualifications, and reference checks.<p> <p>Only candidates shortlisted for an interview will be contacted.<p> <p>All offers of employment will be conditional upon the program running in the school year and during the summer program.<p><p><p>Instructors who are not currently OCDSB employees will be required to submit a valid Police Records Check for employment with the vulnerable sector, acceptable to the OCDSB and less than 6 months old, prior to their first day of work. <p> <p>How to apply: All interested applicants should express their interest by sending their resume to nectaria.karagiozis@ocdsb.ca<p> <p>Persons with disabilities who require accommodation in the application and/or interview process should email nectaria.karagiozis@ocdsb.ca.<p> <p> <p> <p>Personal information is collected pursuant to the Education Act and will be used to determine the eligibility for employment with the OCDSB.
