*Registered Psychologist Position, Community Psychologist - Roots and Wings Therapeutic ServicesJob Description*
Roots and Wings Therapeutic Services (RWTS) is seeking dedicated and compassionate registered Psychologists to work on the ground with children and families providing 1:1 counselling and community-based wellness services.
Roots and Wings Therapeutic Services provides a wrap-around Indigenized approach to wellness services. The organization's core mission is to support the health and mental well-being of children, youth and their families in Winnipeg, Manitoba and surrounding areas. Services are grounded in therapy models such as culture and land-based therapies, narrative therapy, behavioural therapy, trauma informed-care, community and strength-based approaches, among others.
*Position Description*
Under the supervision of the Clinical Lead, you will be responsible for providing direct 1:1 therapy and wellness services to children and youth. You will strive to foster healthy relationships with the children and families in order to assist them in achieving their goals and improve their quality of life. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.Wellness Workers work towards child-specific wellness goals and connection to peers and community through inhouse programming. Some of the programs offered include nature based, physical literacy, ceremony and land-based learning, social skills and play groups, family events, cooking, volunteer opportunities and more.
*Responsibilities*
* Provide intensive, wrap around wellness therapies and interventions to Indigenous children, youth and families, experiencing mental health challenges, trauma or life transitions
* Use evidence-based and culturally appropriate interventions that reflect the diverse identifies of the children and families we serve
* Collaborate with families, caregivers and community to promote wraparound care.
* Participate in community outreach and capacity building.
* Maintain and participate in monthly supervision and ensure documentation in accordance with ethical guidelines
*Qualifications*
* Must have an undergrad or master?s degree
* *Registration under: Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA.) Those that apply without will not be considered.*
* Minimum 2 years experience providing therapy to children and families.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed care and anti-oppressive practice.
* Experience working with marginalized communities and applying equity-based frameworks.
* Strong understanding of intesectionality and the impacts of structural inequalities on mental health.
* Excellent collaborating and advocacy skills.
*Requirements:*
* *Must* have a current satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), and Prior Contact Check as conditions of employment.
* Valid Drivers license and use of personal vehicle is a requirement for this position. A driver?s abstract is also required.
* Registration through governing body is *required. *
* Available to work evenings and weekends required to meet the needs of the children and families we serve.
