Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Nursing home/home for the aged. Tasks: Administer medications. Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing. Ensure infection control. Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects . Record medication's therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files. Take vital signs. Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures. Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team. Supervise professional and support staff and students. Collect blood, tissue or other samples from patients. Clean and dress wounds. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work. Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination. Area of specialization: Geriatrics. Security and safety: Bondable. Criminal record check. Vulnerable sector check. Personal suitability: Client focus. Dependability. Excellent oral communication.
