Come grow with us!POSITION OVERVIEWThe City of Maple Ridge is seeking passionate, qualified, and experienced Team Leaders to support the delivery of Recreation Services programs. If you thrive in an innovative, creative environment and enjoy inspiring both staff and children, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community.We?re looking for leaders with a strong background mentoring teams and delivering high-energy, engaging programs in both indoor and outdoor settings. You will plan and facilitate a variety of activities including day camps, out trips, themed events, safety programs, early years initiatives, licensed school-age childcare, sports programs, and other sport-based recreation opportunities.As a Recreation Leader 3, you?ll create positive, inclusive experiences where children can play, connect, and learn through nature-based, artistic, and sport-oriented programs. You?ll mentor staff and volunteers, model professionalism, and oversee high-quality program delivery while following established City policies, procedures, and safety standards. This includes completing site/program safety checks, supporting safe supervision ratios, using appropriate risk-management practices, responding to incidents and first aid situations, and ensuring activities are delivered safely and effectively. You?ll also maintain accurate documentation (waivers, daily logs, and incident/first aid reports) to support safe, accountable municipal service delivery.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECompletion of Grade 12 and supplemented by courses related to the work, plus some related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Working knowledge of the fundamentals of program leadership and instruction for preschool and school aged children, youth and adults. Working knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures and policies governing the work. Working knowledge of modern office methods and procedures. Ability to participate in planning and implementing programs and activities and to provide leadership and instruction. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with program participants, parents and external agencies. Ability to assist in leadership of volunteers and junior level staff. Skill in the operation of equipment used in the work.LICENCES AND CERTIFICATESValid Standard/Intermediate First Aid and CPR/AED, Level C. Please note: Emergency/Basic First Aid & CPR - A or B are not valid for this position.Standard/Intermediate First Aid & CPR/AED, level C Training: 2 days in-class or blended, approximately 16 hours, certification is valid for 3 yearsStandard/Intermediate First Aid & CPR/AED, level C RE- CERTIFICATION Training, previously completed a full course, renew certification prior to expiry, 1 day approximately class, 8 hours, valid for 3 years.HOURS OF WORKThis is an auxiliary position with no ongoing schedule of hours (Hours of work are governed by Schedule B (C, J) of the Collective Agreement alongside the Letter of Understanding for Workers in Children's/Youth Services and Recreation Access).Please note: Recreation Services summer day camp programs operate Monday to Friday between 8AM - 5:30PM, depending on the program. Candidates working day camps can anticipate up to 8 hours a day from June 29 - September 4, 2026.
