Over 20 Indigenous governments in the Northwest Territories signed a new $375M funding agreement for Indigenous-led, long-term conservation efforts, effective mid-2025. The draft agreement includes creating government jobs and a process to determine funding allocation and use. Non-conservation activities may qualify for funding, such as eco-tourism, climate research, and emergency planning.
