Eligibility criteria to create a Job Bank account - Help

To access some of Job Bank’s services, such as Job Match and Direct Apply, you must be one of the following:

  • a Canadian citizen;
  • a permanent resident of Canada; or
  • a temporary resident of Canada.

To show that you are eligible, you must provide:

  • your date of birth;
  • your mother’s maiden name or parent’s last name at birth; and
  • your valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Your SIN will be automatically verified by our system to confirm your eligibility. We will not keep it in our records. If you are unable to provide this information or prefer not to, you can still sign up on Job Bank by opting out of these services.

Note: If you are currently an Express Entry candidate, you are also eligible for these services. Instead of a SIN, you will be asked to provide your Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code.

You can sign up on Job Bank without providing your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and other personal information by opting out of some services for now. These include Job Match and Direct Apply.

If you change your mind later, you will be able to opt in to these services by adding the missing information in your account.
