heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) mechanic

Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Outdoors. Tasks: Install and overhaul heating systems. Install refrigeration systems. Interpret blueprints or other instructions to plan methods or sequences of operation. Measure and lay out reference points for installation. Troubleshoot heating systems. Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components. Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment. Provide customer service. Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices. Perform maintenance such as, recharging system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators or calibrating system. Interpret gas codes. Handle, recover and store refrigerants. Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification. Working at heights training. Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Red Seal Certificate. Transport Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Certification. Type of service and repair: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Equipment and machinery experience: HVAC. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads.
