Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Dangerous. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Wet/damp. Work setting: Rural area. Staff accommodation available. Various locations. Tasks: Handling animals. Monitoring animal health. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Track and report on current feed inventory . Weaning. Feed and tend animals. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens. Maintain work records and logs. Perform general farm duties. Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops. Equipment and machinery experience: Automated manure handling or storage system. Feeding and watering system. Storage and silage system. Tractor. Automated systems experience: Bulk grain or feed handling - automated. Automated environmental control equipment. Manure handling and storage. Area of specialization: Swine. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Attention to detail.
