Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Dental practice. Tasks: Conduct initial dental assessments. Consult with dentists on patient care. Instruct patients regarding oral hygiene. Clean and stimulate the gums to prevent gum disease. Apply fluoride treatment. Remove stains and deposits from teeth. Take, develop and mount X-rays. Perform restorative and orthodontic procedures under the direction of a dentist. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Membership with the Ordre des hygiénistes dentaires du Québec.
