Diana Lake Provincial Park, located 16km east of Prince Rupert, has temporarily closed for facility upgrades. The upgrades include constructing a day-use shelter, an expanded and accessible parking area, renovated toilets, and relocating the park’s gate. The park is scheduled to reopen in April 2025.

Metlakatla Development Corporation (MDC) and the Prince Rupert Port have received a $60M loan from the Canada Infrastructure Bank to develop South Kaien Import Logistics Park. The project would be the first Indigenous-led port logistics facility in British Columbia. The funding will be used for site preparation work for the 56-acre project which is expected to take two years.

The Government of British Columbia has partnered with the Northwest BC Resource Benefits Alliance to provide $250M in funding over 5 years for critical infrastructure projects in the province’s northwest. Trigon Pacific Terminals Limited has reached 50% completion of its $173M Berth Two Beyond Carbon (B2BC) project in Prince Rupert. B2BC will nearly double the terminal's capacity from 18.5M tonnes to about 33.5M tonnes. It is expected that the berth will be ready for its first vessel in early 2027.

Pembina Pipeline Corp. and the Haisla First Nation have made their final investment decision in the US$4B Cedar LNG project off the coast of British Columbia. The project will involve the construction of a floating liquefied natural gas facility near Kitimat. When completed in late 2028 the facility will use natural gas from Western Canada to produce natural gas for export to Asia.
