The staff turnover rate continues to increase at Vitalité Health Network institutions. The rate has gone from 4.6% to 8.1% over two years. Testimonials from former employees refer to workload, administrative management changes, and a lack of flexibility as the causes.
The N.B. Council of Nursing Home Unions is expressing concern that Horizon Health staff are being recruited to address nursing home shortages and being paid higher wages. The union wants nursing home workers’ wages to increase to $9/hour over four years.

The Government of New Brunswick has reached tentative agreements with the Nurses Union, which represents 8,890 registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and nurse practitioners who work in hospitals, public and community health programs and other settings across New Brunswick.
Horizon Health Network says it plans to stop using travel nurses by the end of the month. At its peak in July 2023, Horizon had 250 travel nurses. Recruitment efforts have been strong, with a net increase of more than 200 nurses added in the 1st quarter.
