Nunavuk Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) is providing $1.5M for a feasibility study on Inuktut academic schools to strengthen Inuktut in Nunavut and its education systems. After seeing a model of Kalaallisut as the language of instruction in Greenland primary classrooms, the NTI board seeks to implement an equivalent in Nunavut.

The Nunavut government is increasing salaries by nine percent for Government of Nunavut employees who are part of the Nunavut Employees Union and for senior management groups. Specialized roles within the Nunavut government will receive a two percent salary increase. Increases will take effect September 30 this year.

The lack of housing in Nunavut is the most frequently raised concern in the territory. Additionally, the lack of employment opportunities and banks outside Iqaluit create barriers for residents to build up their credit rating to qualify for mortgages. As a result, many residents rely on public housing. Government employees also stated that they are afraid of retiring and losing their government housing.
